I learnt at an early stage that anything that comes after the word but is vile. No worries though I got you covered not all buts are negative. A few days back I had the pleasure of getting to listen to a story about a peace painting contest I don’t quite remember where, but the important thing was that I was attentive. I am one of those people who like paying attention to details.

I would love to paint but with a wild imagination and the inability to hold paint brushes equates to no painting. During the contest there were two particular paintings that stole the show. The first painting was about a calm lake .The lake was an ideal mirror for peaceful towering mountains which were all around it. The sky was blue with fleecy white clouds. This was the flat out definition of a perfect picture of peace. The second picture had mountains too but they were precipitous and undraped. The sky above was furious from which rain poured and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. It was in no way peaceful.   Behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock, a mother bird had built her nest. In the middle of the rush of angry water sat the mother bird on her nest a picture perfect peace. In my mind that picture was phenomenal. I believe if I saw it in person I would probably drool. At the bottom of the paint was a statement written peace in the midst of the storm, those words just got to me at a whole new level, seriously I am gushing over this so bad. At this point we know the second picture took the award home.
Let’s take a deep dive in my imagination for a bit, in my head I was in a spectacular art gallery. Filled with all sorts of painting. People in alluring gowns and tuxedos or suits standing on various corners of the building admiring the art and then there is me, just standing in awe of the second painting. Staring because the painting took my breath away and wishing that I could in some way own it .I know right, but a girl is allowed to dream until she puts it in action.
I could think of a bazillion reasons the second painting won but the one that stands out is its diversity. It’s known that you do not know how strong you are until being strong is the only option you have. Don’t get me wrong the first one also displayed peace but that’s the ordinary kind of peace where there are no challenges and all you have to do is lay back and chill out.
In our lives we think we find peace when everything is going our way, no potholes or bumps just clear paths. And though that’s also a definition of peace, true peace is when everything around you is being torn apart but you choose to remain calm and retain your peace of mind regardless of the situation at hand .It’s so easy to feel good when everything you do is progressing but when you encounter an adversity and you still are peaceful, that there is what I call self-control.
Don’t let things that are out of your control disrupt your peace, I mean we have God on our side He is always listening, God in this case is whoever your supreme being is.
In the book of Philippians 4:5-6 “Let your gentleness be evident to all, the Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God.”
There is a prayer that I love dearly but I cited in my previous posts It’s worth going back. Don’t forget to check it out. I am sure you will love it. I have stated it towards the end of the article.
I hope you are living your best, conquering your fears, taking risks like never before and aiming for the sky. You can do this I believe in you.
I wish you all the best in all of your endeavours.
As I always say, there is no us without you.
